No sync after updating to maverick in iMac

After the new iOS can sync data (cal, contacts, and calendar) get a message to replace phone data as it is the first time to sync in new iOS10.9 , but when I select either "merge" or "replace" a new error message comes "an error was encountered while syncing ZERO" Having used wipe phone, format memory etc etc can not find a solution. Any ideas
