I am able to sync calendar, notes, tasks but it won't let me sync my contacts.
The desktop manager says "contacts (not available). I have over 2000 contracts on the BB device. I tried installing and reinstalling software which didn't change anything. I am afraid I will loose these contacts. Any help is appreciated! Moving into a new phone soon and need to get the PC inline with my phone on all of these.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
That typically means that you have wireless synchronization activated for your contacts, which takes priority over any other methods (e.g., Desktop Software). If you indeed are not using wireless contact sync, then you need to disable it, in two places...refer to this for those locations:
Again, you need to check two configuration locations, and ensure that both are not activated.
