OVERHEATING trackpad

Last night, my trackpad suddenly started overheating and wouldnt scroll up,down, left or right....but it selects ! It gets too hot and i've done a hard reset several times still no change. Even my touchscreen is no longer functional and i cant do much on it considering an inctive touchscreen and a trackpad that wont scroll (THE WORST) ! I use a bold 9790 with os 7.1, please what can i do ?!

Re: OVERHEATING trackpad

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, you may need to try more drastic measures (e.g., WIPE, clean OS reload, BBSAK/JLCMDR wipe/reload, etc.). If you remain within your warranty, you may instead wish to seek support there.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: OVERHEATING trackpad

Thank you for the suggestion....but my trackpad is still not working ! I only use my touchscreen now, which is a bit of a drag. Perhaps its a hardware issue and i should seek support ?

Perhaps it is...and so, as previously suggested, if you do not wish to conduct any further self-diagnostics, then the answer would be "yes".

Good luck!
