Option Icon disappeared and option menu not responding

Hi

Since large update last week the option icon has disappeared from the desktop screen.

When I try to access options via the bb menu it does not respond and takes me back to the home screen.

Have you tried removing the battery to reboot the device?

yes a few times.

I am backing my data now but I am not sure if I can do a hard reset without accessing the option menu

You may need to wipe the device and reload the OS from scratch.
