Orange Enhanced Line 2 on 8320

I purchased an 8320 through Orange earlier this year with Enhanced Line 2, explicitly on the understanding that it supported Enhanced Line 2 and that, as the Orange website states "..You have separate numbers, ringtones and Answer phone messages for each line. So you'll know instantly whether it's a business or a personal call."

However there isn't anything I can find on the phone which helps differentiate whether the call is being received by one line or another. Am I answering a business or personal call? Getting Enhanced Line 2 was supposed to help. All I can do is toggle between Line 1 and Line 2 to make outgoing calls. I cannot set up different profiles with different ringtones to help. Has anyone had this problem, and is there a solution?

Otherwise I have been sold a phone/service which doesn't do what I asked for : (

Re: Orange Enhanced Line 2 on 8320

You will have to enable regular Orange Line2.

Enhanced Line2 is rather a DualSim than a network feature.

Support for different ringtones is therefore not possible.

The regular Line2 service is the CPHS based Alternate Line

Service, which does support different ringtones.

However, this feature is device-dependend as well.

As for the Curve, I cannot tell. The manual only explains how

to set lines, but not how to set the ringtone.

Hello,

if your contacts are in real life separated, it's easy. What I mean by that : if all the people that call you for business matters only do that for business matters, just set a "business" ringtone for them. And set a "personal" ringtone for the others. It's a lot of work, but does the job. Your question becomes a question of contacts and not of lines.

Only problem is : what is the defaul ringtone for someone that is not in your contacts ?

You're quoting the description of Orange Line 2:

Service description

However, "Enhanced Line 2" (Service description) is an entirely

different service.

As I mentioned earlier, it acts rather as two simcards in an dualsim

adapter with one card beeing forwarded to the other.

As you in fact only have one line active at a time, there is no way

to distinguish between Line 1 and Line 2 for incomming calls.

Furthermore, to switch phone lines, you will have to use a simtoolkit

menu (as for dualsim adapters). Its not possible to switch using the

genuine phone menu.

The regular Orange Line 2 service is a GSM service which implents

a second line on the network, not on the sim. Therefore, given the phone

support ALS (Alternate Line Service), you can switch using the genuine

phone menus and choose different ringing tones for the lines. However,

as far as I know, using ALS while roaming is not possible, nor is it

possible to activate data or send SMS on the second line.

Personal, I would always choose Line2 to enhanced Line2, as for me

distinguishing incoming calls is most important, as it is for you.

You have to ask orange to switch your service.
