PHONE BROKE, NEED HELP.

i've got a blackberry, i took it to Turkey on holiday in 57 degrees, came home and the scrolling pad has become unresponsive acting like a dodgey connection. I took it to the phone shop three and they said it was water damage because the battery had the red water damage indecator on the bottom and they told me to write on this website to see what you say. It's not as if ive dropped it completely in water as the whole phone wouldn't work which three told me. It's strange that it's just the scrolling pad. Im on a 24month contract and now i don't have a good phone to use, It's as if they were saying i can't take my phone on holiday because of the heat which i don't think that's a good enough excuse for it to not be looked at. The charger i got with the phone has also broke so i can't even charge it to see if it does start working.

Can you do anything to help because no where else seems to be helping. Thanks.

Re: PHONE BROKE, NEED HELP.

Water damage can come from something as simple as taking your phone in the shower with you and leaving it on the sink, the steam can cause water damage. It sounds like you may need to have your trackpad replaced if that is the only issue your having. I read in another forum where a user was having similar problems and and like yourself, was told it was water damage. He took the trackpad apart and had corrosion on the contacts, cleaned it and it worked fine again. See if they can check this at the phone shop you went to and replace it if need be.

Re: PHONE BROKE, NEED HELP.

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.
1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.

Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day
