Photo viewing speed - surprisingly slow

I show my clients plant photos as I am a landscape designer.  I have 2,500 photos divided in 36 subfolders.  They are small files 17 kb to 40 kb each.

I am surprised at how slow the BB is to deal with these images.  A subfolder with 210 photos (set at 7 thumbnail images per row) has such a small cache to remember the whole set of thumnails when scrolling up or down from the top of the list to the bottom of the list.  Can I change the cache to a higher quanitity somewhere so I do not have to wait for the regeneration each and every scroll?

By the way, I have an 8GB micro SD card installed.

And, installing large file photos just makes things worse.  I tried that and deleted the large files because the BB just about had drop dead moment - taking ten minutes to recover from reading what was offered.

Any hope here?  Or should I have purchased an iPhone instead?
