As I was talking on my relatively new Bold 9700 it just completely died! The battery was charged but the screen and everything just went black. It will not power on. I have removed the battery and put it back in and the only response to that it the red LED light coming on for a few minutes then coming off.
Any suggestions please?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
See this KB to see if any of the symptoms match yours:
If the battery spontaneously discharged, that would indeed be cause for alarm. If your symptoms match something there, then the likely recommendation is to charge for some time (at least 2 hours, IMO) and then see if your BB has returned to normal. If the behavior persists, seek warranty evaluation.
Good luck and let us know!

Thank you so much for your quick response. It did match those symptoms you suggested and I have plugged it in to charge and it has powered back on again. Yay! The only thing bothering me is that before it shut down, the battery was half full with no indication that it was dying. I'll keep monitoring it and if it happens again I'll check my warranty info.

Mine has done this twice in two months; about a month apart each time. Same as you, the battery was half charged and just shut down and would not come back on until plugged into the charger. Have researched and researched trying to find a reason and have been unsuccessful so far.

Hello, I am using my Blackberry Bold 9700 on the MTN network in Nigeria and it has had problems from the first day I bought it. It refused to come on after I took it home, even after replacing the battery with my girlfriend's phone, which was working fine since I bought both phones the same day. I took it back to the store, where they tweaked it and it came back home. Then I put it off, took it home again for the night to charge it and tried putting it on but it failed to come on. Next day, I took it back to the store and they fixed it again without telling me what was really wrong it it but they removed the auto lock feature, as well as some other applications. It didn't go off for three weeks until this morning when I noticed it went off while in my pocket. Did everything I could to put it on, all to no avail. I can't take it back to the store where I bought it since I am in another city. Can anyone tell me what to do to get it to come on? Haven't dropped the phone or spilled water on it. Any help would be appreciate. Thanks.

What does it mean when my BB Bold 9700 displays a battery with a red line through it? It will not power up after displaying the battery icaon with the red line through it. I take the battery out and it acts like it is powering up then the same battery icon screen appears.
