Blackberry Storm, Verizon - 18.104.22.168
With the Plug in (wired) headset:
- When using phone i can hear the volume... But headset mic. does not work.
-When using phone w/ mic. plugged in w/ Bluetooth in the car.. the care acts like the mic. is not plugged in..and the sounds/voice play thru the car. .. Before this problem.. if the mic was plugged in..the car's b/t would not activate....
- During a b/t conversation in the car, when i turn off b/t..the sound returns to the plugged in headset..but mic. does not work.
When using Media voice notes, mic. does not work.. unplug the mic..the notes records from the handset speaker.. Plug in mimic. The sound fades away.
- Headset audio works intermittently when playing mp3's.
- Headset audio always works when playing podcasts w/ podtrapper
'Have tried 'switching to headset, handset, speakerphone'...have tried hitting all mute buttons.
i did have the problem after upgrading to 22.214.171.124 that my phone did not ring... the 'ringer off ' icon appeared. 'found a fix on line w/ a hard reboot that did correct this.. (although the ringer off icon still appears
handset is fine, speaker phone is fine, b/t is fine. ...

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried 3 different microphones - same exact symptoms.
One mic uses a 3.5 adaptor..the others have 3.5 plugs....
i have also used the mic's on a different phone w/o problems.

Hit the "green" call button, when dial pad shows up hit the hard BB button and click on options. OK now I will tell you how mine is set up, lets see if yours is the same ......My wired headset does work. So lets see if maybe the problem is here.... This is how mine looks
Default Call volume....100%
Enhanced Handset Call audio.... Normal
Enhanced Headset Call audio.....Normal
Enhanced Volume Control.... Disabled
This is the only option that I am aware of that could effect this issue.

Thanks for the detail - Some of my settings were 'previous' instead of 'normal'... so i reset them to be consistent w/ yours.
Unfortunately this had no impact on the matter. The wired headset audio works.. but the mic does not. Tried 2 different mics to be sure. Tried rebooting after the change. no joy..
Thx very much for the suggestion.

Very sorry for not being able to help.... I am going to suggest taking it to your carrier and see if they can figure it out... Sounds like a possible hardware issue.
Good luck!! keep us informed on how it turns out

This may or may not be of value....
i downgraded my storm to version 126.96.36.199 (thinking that my recent upgrade to .148 may have been related.
After the downgrade and hard boot... the headset. does not work ... both adio and voice come out of the handset.. when the headset is plugged in. While playing a podcast i hit the bb button and chose 'activate headse'... this message returned:
There was an error setting the output mode, it has been reset to the default routing. The error was: javax.microedition.media.mediaexception/failed to change audio path
i'm going to re.install .148 tonight and test the functionality.... otherwise.. i spend tomorrow at Verizon...

Good thought.... Reinstalling the OS could fix this problem. I would maybe recommend deleting the os off the computer and rebooting your computer and then redownload the OS from VZW.com.... little time consuming but way better then sitting at Verizon all day, that's for sure
let us know how it works

Tried each available downgrade - mic. did not fxn with any of them.
Uploaded latest os from Verizon with no change in headset mic. performance.
'Out of tricks... so we'll see what Verizon can do.
