Diagnosed by Verizon as a bad headset port.
Phone replaced under warantee.
Thanks again for your help.
Well glad you found out what was wrong with it, but hate that you had to phone swap to fix it...
When you have a chance can you click the resolve button on here so others will have an idea what to do if they encounter the same issue you had...
Thanks, and good luck with your new Storm!!!

I have the curve and as with all the plug -ins( non blue tooth) you need an adapter( never was sure what the smart idea was here deviating from the rest of the 2.5 jack world) to make most all work. If you mistakenly get a mono jack ( I have to go to radio shack) you will find stuff doesn't work. I late found I was given the right jack.
Still does not solve the low volume all compain about.

Unfortunatley I have the same issue with my storm when I plug my head set in the phone does nothing. Here is where it gets weird , when i upgrade from 4.7 to the leaked 5.0 the headset jack works perfectly. but if downgrade back to 4.7. which is what i would like to do due to all the problems with the leaked version. The head phone jack stops working again. any ideas on how to resolve this thanks guys.

Hi 'problem solved' appears below your comments.
Did you really solve the problem? Is your headset now working? If so how?
My 8900 (javelin curve) does not even show the 'headset' function in the menu any longer.
It worked perfectly well until I upgraded 'document on the go'. How these I related, I don't know... But suffice it to say the only reason I decided to upload music to my phone is defeated.
How do I downgrade my 'document to go' in order to retrieve my 'headset/external speaker' function?

I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
Soft reboot :
1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
- Right Shift
2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
Hard reboot :
1) your Blackberry device is on
2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
3) Put the battery back
4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.
Please tell us if it works for you.
