as stated previously, i've already done that. i was asking if there was some special firmware that was found outside of that usual software updater.

Apple pushed the firmware update last night. I suggest you go the Apple.com and look under support.
My device syncs in under 2 minutes. I must not have much data....

per this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
i have the latest firmware updates.
this is what my system profiler has:
Boot ROM Version: MBP51.0074.B01
SMC Version: 1.33f8
it reflects the updates i did on Dec 10 when those 2 were sent out.
maybe your software updater just caught it last night since they usually check in 7 days cycles.
just a guess.

The firmware update comes through "Software Update" in System Preferences. In fact, there have been two firmware updates there in the past week.
Be sure to pay attention to the instructions when you reboot. For firmware it goes through a special reboot and you mustn't interfere with it once it starts (also, the howl your MacBook emits during this process is normal).

After lots of hassle like everybody else, I've gotten by Storm to reliably sync contacts with my iMac 24 running the latest Leopard. What did the trick was a suggestion (contradicted elsewhere) to set my BlackBerry this way...
- Save the change
I couldn't get syncing to complete with MTP ON.
Hope this helps the continuing struggle.

I am trying to post a comment about the inability to get a sync with a blackberry and a Mac. I find it amazing that I loose phone numbers and that there is no way to contact blackberry directly. Do you have any idea how to post a general comment?
