Problems - Facebook Application & Blackeberry Messenger

Hi There,

I am new to the fourm, and I have found lots of useful information from you guys on here which has really helped me using my blackberry bold 9700.

One problem I am having is that when I have dowloaded the facebook application onto my phone it will never ever allow me to log in. I get the error message " Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support"

The second problem is that my blackberry messenger does not work for some reason when I add someone it will add on my friends phone however will not register on mine it just stays in the pending contacts section.

Please can some one help, it would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Confirm that you do have a BlackBerry Data Plan on your account?

I guess if you can open BBMessenger and send an invite, you must?

Re: Problems - Facebook Application & Blackeberry Messenger

Confirm it... do you get the RIM push email?

Can you send/receive a PIN message from another BlackBerry?

The problem you might experience with BlackBerry Messenger is adding users by email, rather than by their PIN.

I would suggest you test this, delete ALL of your pendng contacts, ask them to delete anything pending also.

Now test it with one contact, add them as a BBM contact by PIN.

If you need, you can test with me, check your private messages here.

Re: Problems - Facebook Application & Blackeberry Messenger

Ok, I have sent you a PIN message, it does not appear to have been delivered yet.

So, are you on a personal BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) account, or a corporate BES account (BlackBerry Enterprise Service)?

Do you have an IT Policy on your device? Look at Options > Security > Information.

No I do not have a IT policy where you are suggesting me to look. I have just spokent to vodafone who are my provider and they said I was not on any internet package and now have upgraded me to full internet access and it will take affect from midnight tonight. do you think this could of been the reason why?

Thanks

Re: Problems - Facebook Application & Blackeberry Messenger

i just got my bold 9700. Everything was working fine including my facebook after subscribing to Blacberry Internet Service. However, after installing software update, I'm started having problem to use my facebook. I installed again the application (version 1.7 then v1.6), but both failed to work.

Now, everytime I try to login the error "Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support".

Is there anything i need to do in the settig?

Need your expert advice on this matter. Thanks

Re: Problems - Facebook Application & Blackeberry Messenger

Hi there,

I have been receiving the same message as well, when trying to login to Facebook on my new BB9700.

My browser works and so does my e-mail, but I keep getting the same message:

"Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support".

Has anyone been able to fix this??

Thanks in advance!
