Problems charging 9860

I have a 9860 that I can charge via USB from my laptop, and from my car.

Attempting to charge from a wall socket is another issue. It will not charge using the adaptor and USB provided with the device, although it's the same USB cable that will charge when connected to the laptop. Even though it’s connected to electricity, after about 30 seconds I get a brief message telling me that “Some USB hubs might not provide enough power. Plug the hub into a power outlet (if available) and reconnect your BlackBerry device.”

Changing the USB cable (I have 3) gives exactly the same results.

Changing the adaptor to either a Rocketfish, my wife's iPad adaptor, or a colleague's BB adaptor and USB, gives exactly the same results.

Changing to another colleague’s adaptor, which is a fixed plug and cable, works fine.

As battery life on the 9860 is pathetically short, this is very annoying.

Any ideas?

I'd say you need to go get one of those.

Re: Problems charging 9860

You're right, it would let me charge, but cost me another $30.

However, the problems I am having defy logic and that bugs me.

Re: Problems charging 9860

Have you tried rebooting your device, and trying those non-working charging options again?

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

Re: Problems charging 9860

Thx for the tip, but tried that half a dozen times at least.

Hey, I don't know what all you've tried if you don't say it. Smiley Wink

Maybe the 7th time's a charm. or 11th.
