Problems syncing with iCal

Hey guys, I got a new torch (I had a bold before but it just broke down, so I couldn't save any data) Now I plug my phone into my computer and it doesn't even read my phone  (USB ports are working correctly).

I hit the option Charge only, which is the one to sync with Desktop Manager but nothing happens.

Do you know what can I do?

thanks so much

Luis

Re: Problems syncing with iCal

Welcome to the Forums!

What version of Desktop Manager do you have on your PC?

You might want to consider performing a clean uninstall of Desktop Manager, then reloading with the latest and greatest version of DM, which you can get here.

Make sure you reboot your PC between the clean uninstall and the installation of the new software, as well as performing a battery pull on your device prior to attempting to use Desktop Manager again.

Let us know if this works out for you!

Re: Problems syncing with iCal

I got the lastest version for Mac. I followed all your steps, but it still didn't work. I'm trying to remember what I did yesterday. When I tried to sync, I had the option to switch from my old Blackberry, but since it was all destroyed and non readable, I clicked on Forget Device. And all problems started..what can I do?

Thanks for your help!!

Re: Problems syncing with iCal

Hi Luise,

Sorry I haven't been able to respond to this.

You mentioned earlier that you had an "option to switch from your old BlackBerry" and your problems started then.  Were you attempting to use the Device Switch Wizard?

I think that you might also need to do a Security Wipe of your device and start from scratch to get this working.

If you have anything on your device that you want to save, you best do a backup with Desktop Manager, then wipe your device.  I'd also try the clean uninstall of Desktop Manager again to make sure we're starting fresh with everything.

Re: Problems syncing with iCal

This is so weird, because I can sync from my old computer, but not with the new software I installed in a new computer. I just get the "welcome to desktop manager, connect your device to start"-screen but it doesn't read my device. Hence, I can't use the menu of the Desktop Manager.

Btw, I swiped my  BB.

Re: Problems syncing with iCal

What was your old computer?  A Mac or PC?

Also, didn't you say you were in the middle of using the Device Switch or something when this all started happening?

Re: Problems syncing with iCal

This is what happened:

- My BB Bold crashed. I used to sync it in an old Mac.

- I transferred all my files to a new Mac.

- The day I tried to switch phones, the software asked me to connect my old BB and the new one (Torch) but, since the BB bold is dead, I just hit forget device.

- I've not been able to sync my new Torch in my new computer, however, I can in an old one (both are Macs)

Please, let me know if it's clear. I wiped my device, uninstalled Desktop mgr with no results.

Thanks again,

Luis
