Problems with Bold Desktop Software and Vista

I just bought a new Bold and am having problems with the Desktop Software 4.6.  My computer keeps crashing.  I am running Vista Home Premium.  Is the Desktop Software Vista compatible?  AT&T Technical support thought not.  Is there a later version of the Software or any drivers that I should be using? If so what?  Thanks for any help.
