Hi, I successfully upgraded my 8310 to version 4.5 Desktop Manager and Device Software (after removing the vendor.xml file it all worked perfectly - that was a whole different problem which I had to resolve).
However, it is now giving me an error message when I try to sync that says:
“The computer must be connected to the internet in order to initially configure syncronisation settings. Please ensure that you are able to connect to the internet and try again.”
Only problem is - I AM CONNECTED to the Internet!! I have checked my firewall settings (windows and anti-virus) and cleared Desktop Manager to work. Now I cant sync at all.
Can anyone help me???!! Urgent…

Hi and welcome to the forums,
Please specify PC type and Operating system.
Try a clean uninstall of the DM 4.5 and reinstall.
Please let us know if you need any assistance,

Vista would make a difference in how you installed the DM.
Please let me know how it goes!

Hi, would you believe that after all that (following your instructions to complete a clean uninstall and then reinstall of the Software), I went to Sync and it gave me the same message again!!
What should I do now????!!!

So when you upgraded the DEVICE software to 4.5, you downloaded the DESKTOP 4.5 as well.
What version of Desktop were you using before the upgrade. I don't know your expertise level,
but your do not have to match the Desktop and Device versions to the same version. Just FYI
Please let me know what Desktop you were using successfully before 4.5?

Hi, I think I was previously using Desktop 4.2.
If possible I would like to use DESKTOP 4.5. Are you suggesting downgrading the Desktop version to see if that works?
Will there be any compatibility problems not that I am running DEVICE software 4.5?

also, the problem appears to relate to the initial syncronisation process to configure the sync. Is there any way around that??

Actually yes I would do the clean uninstall and go back. I have seen this problem in the forums, but have yet to see a resolution, other than to drop down to a lower version of DM. To simplify our trouble shooting, lets go back to what was successful, and then see if we can make it work.
Do you agree?
