.REM files

Greetings.

My Blackberry has encrypted some of my recent files(jpg) now I can't view/use them.

How can I can decrypte them without the use of a computer?

Thanks!!!

Re: .REM files

Hi Touchscreen,

In order to remove the encryption from the media files, you will need access to a computer. If you can get access to a PC, you would need to download the BlackBerry Desktop Software and use it to transfer the media files to the computer, removing the encryption as it does so. This article provides more information. "Encrypted files stored on the microSD media card appear as .rem files" KB11454

I would also suggest making sure that your media card encryption is disabled going forward to prevent this from happening. You can find the settings in Options > Security Options > Encryption. Set Encryption to Disabled.

Let me know if that helps.

Re: .REM files

If I install this software on my laptop, will it automatically decrypt the encrypted files when copying from my bb? Does this work for all files, video, image, etc that have the .REM extension?
