RIM mass storage device

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

I got a problem. When I tried to connect with Media Manager to upload music. My media card is not detected. Moreover, when I connect my BB on my laptop, he asked me to install RIM Mass storage device (which appear in device management with yellow exclamation). Any Idea?

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8320 and Desktop Manager 4.5. Windows XP Pro SP3.

Rgds,

Arcastor

Re: RIM mass storage device

Try this:

In Windows device manager, delete the RIM Mass storage device (with yellow exclamation).

Now do a scan for new hardware. This should automatically install the right drivers.

Re: RIM mass storage device

I just try but it ask me again for a driver.

Is there specific settings on the BB to use (Mass storage disable or something else)?

Very strange...

Re: RIM mass storage device

you can configure mass storage mode.  Take a look at : Options -> Media card

Re: RIM mass storage device

I tried with both (mass storage enable and disable), same result, always asking for a driver, could it be a usb driver problem?

Re: RIM mass storage device

I'm having the same problem with my laptop as well.  I'm also running Windows XP with SP3.  I'm using a Blackberry Curve 8310 with OS version 4.5.0.55.  I've tried installing and reinstalling DM 4.2.2, 4.5 and 4.6 with no solution.  Any ideas?

arcastor,

What OS on you running on your BB?

What size media card do you have?

Depending on your OS there is a limitation on the size of the media card you can use.

Please let me know!

Re: RIM mass storage device

Okay, I've played with things a little more, but still have not found a solution. My Curve connects correctly with my office PC in Mass media mode. I went into device manager to see what drivers it what using. Here's what I found...

"RIM Blackberry SD USB Device"
Driver Files:
C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\disk.sys
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\PartMgr.sys

Both are provided by Microsoft with the version number being 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2108)

Any suggestions on where I could find the .inf file so I can get my Curve to connect to my laptop properly? Thanks!

Re: RIM mass storage device

you can download the official Blackberry USB Drivers.
go to Blackberry.com , on their download pages. Select "Desktop Manager 4.5". On that page, there 'll be many things to download, scroll until you find "USB Drivers - English".

Re: RIM mass storage device

The following post solved the problem for me:

http://shahrier.blogspot.nl/2013/02/how-to-fix-rim-mass-storage-device.html

I had a BB-bold 9780 with which I didn't had this problem, though this phone died on me. After receiving an exact same model, I did had this problem. After a couple of tries I finnaly found the above link and my problems were solved. Manually re-installing drivers etc. did not do anything.
