Radio Off (Verizon)

Twice in the past few days, when I turn on my phone it is useless.  In the upper right hand corner it says, "Off".  When I try to manage connections, it says that the radio is off.

I fully charge the phone each night, so low battery isn't the reason.

Both times I have pulled the battery out, let the phone reset, then I am good to go.

This tends to get a little old....

anyone know the cause and more importantly, the cure?

TIA.

Tina

Re: Radio Off (Verizon)

In Manage Connections, you should be able to simply turn the radio back on.

Why it is turning off, I don't know Very odd.

Re: Radio Off (Verizon)

ok...from the main screen, pull the battery out..with the phone on.  then let it restart...this way you are working from a clean slate.  then go into manage connections and then turn on the radio...if off, then back out and save settings.  then pull the battery again so that it resets with this "new configuration"  If this does not work, then there may be a problem with the radio..I have seen this issue with verizon blackberry products in recent history.  in this instance, they would probably do an exchange over the phone for you.

Re: Radio Off (Verizon)

When I pull the battery out, and replace it, it will work.  The next day, after charging overnight, when I turned it on... same thing.  Radio was off.  Once again, I pulled the battery, replaced and went on my merry way.

Worthy of a return to the maker?

Re: Radio Off (Verizon)

Don't turn your BB off to charge. There simply is not a reason to do that. I am beginning to suspect that your radio is OFF because it dropped below 15% charge, and automatically the radio is turned off at 10-15% charge as a safety measure so you can use the device before it dies.

Charge your BB battery a little off and on during the day. These batteries actually like the added 10 minute charge, and DO adapt well to constant depletion of the battery.

Thank you, I will give that a try and let you know how it works.

Re: Radio Off (Verizon)

I have a Sprint 8330. My radio goes off with the battery @ 80%. It's easy enough to correct, but why?

Has BB made any comment about this?

Have you asked BB to comment on this?

I think I would suggest reloading or upgrading the OS.

Re: Radio Off (Verizon)

I haven't asked BB (I will ask Sprint first).

As far as I'm aware Sprint is not yet making 4.5 available to their customers.

Is Verizon or do you have to d/l fdirectly rom BB?
