Removing Blackberry Messenger

Hi folks,

I dont need or want to use Blackberry Messenger.  I had deleted it from my phone via the Desktop Manager some time ago, but after recently applying the 5.0.0.592 update, it is back and I cant remove it.  The entry for it in the ApplicationLoader is greyed out.  I can double click on it and get the check box unticked, but when I click Next, I am told "No actions are required"

It wouldn't be so bad if I could shut it down.  I have no need for this messenger and want to conserve my battery's juice by shutting it down.

Any clues?

Re: Removing Blackberry Messenger

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

If you are only seeing it in DTM in the manner you describe, then it is not installed on your BB. Is there some other symptom we are missing?

Thanks.

Re: Removing Blackberry Messenger

OK...that's the result...not the symptom. If you see it here:

  • Homescreen > Options > (Advanced Options in some OS levels) > Applications

Then it is indeed installed on the BB. If DTM will not remove it, you have other means...see this KB:

  • KB10040 How to uninstall a third-party application from a BlackBerry smartphone

If you are running OS 5.0.x.x, this won't be (as the KB states) in Third Party; it will be in "Add-On".

Hope that helps!

Re: Removing Blackberry Messenger

Core? Now that is highly unusual. Very strange indeed...and I'm therefore out of ideas. Sorry.
