Restore is greyed out on Desktop Manager

My husband has changed employment and I am trying to restore his contacts from a backup made from his old phone (curve 9315/20) to his new phone (also a curve 9315/20).  I backed up the old phone several times to be sure it would be saved(this phone is no longer in my possession).  However when I select "device" in  the desktop software the "restore" option is greyed out completely!  There are over 2000 contacts to restore and it is really important ot get them!

Restore is totally grayed out, and nothing can be restored at all? Or, if you try a selective restore, can some of the databases be restored? In any event, perhaps this will help:
