Restoring 7290 from 7230 files

Hello,

I just got a 7290 (and wiped and replaced the OS, as discussed in another thread) to replace my dying 7230. I have the backup files from my 7230 and would like to restore my 7290 to have my old addy book etc. The option is not available when I open the Desktop Manager. I know where the backup files are. I also do not see the option to transfer the files directly between the phones.

Can I restore my 7290 with the 7230 files?  How?

Thanks!

Re: Restoring 7290 from 7230 files

When you have done backup actions you should get *.ipd file as a result.

Usually this file named as: (12-02-2009).ipd

date in braces and ipd extension.

Connect your blackberry to desktop computer via USB-cable.

Run Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Select "Backup and Restore"

Select Restore option.

Select ipd file with saved data inside.

And restore data to your device.

The option to restore is not available! The button is inactive. That's why I have no idea what to do...

Re: Restoring 7290 from 7230 files

What version of Blackberry Desktop Manager (also known as Blackberry Desktop Software) are you using?

I recommend to download and use the most recent version of Blackberry Desktop Software.

For now it is version 4.7

You can download it here:http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/

Select Blackberry Desktop Software WITHOUT Media Manager

Before you install downloaded BB Desktop Software, do the clean uninstall of previous desktop software application.

Re: Restoring 7290 from 7230 files

YESSSS! Thank you SOOO much for your time! And fast replies! We're just getting ready to go on a trip and I wanted my Berry up and running. Even a stay at home mom of 2 little ones needs her Berry! Smiley Happy

Man that took forever, all the downloading, installing, uninstalling. No idea why Bberry has an older version of the Desktop Manager (it was 4.0.1) to download for my device. Oh well. It got done.

I really. REALLY. Appreciate it!!

Restoring 7290 applications

[ Edited ]

Hey can any one help me?
I have lost all data in my blackberry 7290.
I have deleted all applications. My blackberry is now like black & white mobile phone.
i cannot do or recieve any calls. When i connect my mobile to computer it work but when i run application loader program it get shut down my phone. Application loader shows only COM1 option. When i click on next button it show
"A connection to the device could not be established. Please ensure that the device is properly connected to the cradle or USB cable, and that the cradle or USB cable is connected securely to your computer. Also ensure that the device has completed any startup operations. Then run the Application Loader Wizard again." & there is only 'close' option to click.
there are only 2 application options in my mobile phone.
those are "BlackBerry 4.0 core application" &
"BlackBerry 4.0 System Software"
All other applications had lost.
I am using application loader but its not work.
What i have to do?

Do you have a backup of your device from before the loss of the data?
