Use custom profiles instead of standard ones.
I think after the next operating system update the problem will be resoved.
The most recent version of Blackberry Desktop Software (v4.7) automatically checks device OS upgrades and does the upgrade process automatically.

I think there is a bug inside of operating system. There is nothing broken in the device, just bug into software.
We'll hope that RIM fixes that bug in the next operating system update.

If that doesn't work the next time, you may find that you don't have any ringtones in your media files - which means your phone can't ring because it doesn't have a ringtone to point to. You may have do download a ringtone and make it your default - this is how I solved the problem.
