My Device: BlackBerry Pearl 9100
My Carrier: Telstra (Australia)

Screen stopped working overnight

The problem:

Set the alarm on my BlackBerry and woke up the next morning to find the screen has stopped working. The backlit keys are still working and the phone otherwise appears to function fine. The only other change of note is that the alarm went off with the default ringtone rather than mine.

Attempted a battery pull fix to no avail. Went to work and came back to the same issue, though I found that the screen was - momentarily - just very dim instead of black. It went black shortly thereafter, but I was able to enter my PIN and try pushing a few buttons and the phone seems fine.

The phone was just lying next to my bed and has not suffered any recent water damage, shocks, or anything of the like. The only issue I can muster is that the screen has been somewhat dusty (beneath the glass) lately, and maybe some dust is in the circuitry.

I am under warranty but want to ensure this isn't a common issue first.

Device info

Telstra (Australia's only BlackBerry carrier)

BlackBerry Pearl 9100

Can't access OS details, but haven't changed it since I got it out of the box.

Apps and free space

Battery pull didn't work.

Can't check my apps, I think the only one of note is Quick Pull. Usually am diligent with closing my apps so as to not overload the RAM.

Thanks for any assistance.

Re: Screen stopped working overnight

Hi adentdate,

Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Try backing up your BlackBerry and doing a clean reload of the device software to rule out any software issues. http://bbry.lv/bpv7E1
