Re: Security Wipe

That's not a great reason to wipe a device... at least not in the top 5 I would suggest.

On your BlackBerry device, go to:

1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.

2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
From your handheld device:   http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402

Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.

From your desktop PC:  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list

3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.

Re: Security Wipe

Hey J Sanders;

I am having the single thread SMS problems, OS 423.

Been advised to do the Security Wipe to restore factory settings, and hopefully solve the issue.

I am not sure what OS came on the phone, or if there's a way to find out, otherwise performing the Security Wipe will accomplish nothing.

I can upgrade the software to 442.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Security Wipe

some sort of loading symbol kept constantly coming up and disabling my phone, every time it completed, i had 30 seconds until it started up again. i went into the options and did a security wipe to try to get it to stop, not realizing that it would delete EVERYTHING off of my phone. is there any possible way i can restore my contacts and pictures or anything at all? any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

If you wiped it, the data is gone from your BB. No recovery there. If you are synchronizing to a desktop PIM (e.g., Outlook), then your data is there. If you have backed up via DTM, then you have an IPD file that contains the data as of that point.

Let us know what your status is and we can point you in the right direction -- but those two above options are pretty much all there is...nothing is left on your BB from which to recover.

Good luck and let us know!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!!

I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):

1) Register HRT

  • Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > blackberry_logo.jpg (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS conduits for the affected email accounts.
