I have a new Blackberry and am trying to get it to sync to my hotmail account. I am in Setup>Email accounts>Interne Mail account. The device knows about the email address and that it is linked to a Blackberry ID, but when I enter the password I get 'Update Failed'. I have changed the password and can use this to successfully log in online. I have also tried restarting the BB including removing the battery to be sure. This is a model 9720.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
first try those steps in the same sequence : (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
2) Delete and Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

Hi folks, still having trouble. This is a business phone I'm trying to add a personal email to, so I don't think step 1 applies.
I have deleted the service book as instructed in step 2, but I can't now get the book resent. The phone won't allow me to log in to the email account as it doesn't recognise the password, even though I have reset this online. Since this is a business phone I don't have the login details for the wireless provider (O2) so can't get the service book resent this way.
so, bit stuck still. :-)
