South African blackberry now in Australia

Hi, I have a Bold 9900 from South Africa that I'm using in Australia, we've inserted a Telstra sim and the phone works, but everytime we try and access mails, blackberry world, BBM or anything else Blackberry, it does not work. Looses signal immediately, just shows a red cross. The internet work fine, sms works fine and phone calls are OK but drop all the time. Please help!!! We've asked the South African provider to clear/cancel the BIS on their end and have tried to get Telstra to reset it on their end, no joy.

Re: South African blackberry now in Australia

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Given your description, there is nothing any other users can do for you (this is, after all, a user-to-user community).

There's nothing to add to your BB per se. Using the BB-specific services is a matter of your carrier providing those to you. And there are some things that must happen for them to do so.

It is required that your BB be released from the SA provider BIS system in order for Telstra to create a BIS account for you in their system. There is no way to avoid that. If the SA provider will not release it, then you will never be able to use BIS services from any other carrier.

Good luck and let us know!
