Help, I have been trying to update my device software from 4.3 to 4.5, using Vista SP1 but am plagued with "Stop 0x0000007E"
I've updated my desktop manager to 5.0, but this has not helped. The problem occurs during the install of the firmware update and also when disconnecting my device from the USB port.

There are a couple of hits in the KB's with that error code...see if they are helpful:
Otherwise, I'd recommend the following sequence:
1) A clean uninstall of DTM:
2) A fresh download and install of the appropriately compatible (with your PIM) DTM software:
3) A fresh download and install (to your PC, atop DTM) of the appropriate OS package from your carrier:
4) Retry the OS update
