I can only enter Symbols (smiley faces) in Messenger. How do I go about this on email and SMMS?

there are no smileys supported in email, SMS or MMS.Smileys are available for Microsoft Live Messenger and AOL AIM Messenger.

If you have a Handheld OS 4.5, you may be able to see inline images in email. Most people have HH OS 4.2.

HH OS 4.5 is said to be available for all carriers by fall 2008.
