I thought my problem of not being able to sync properly was solved 4 weeks ago but the problem is not completely behind me as I just noticed that sync'ing now only updates the calendar. Looking at the log, I see an "Internal Error #4198. Translation Canceled!" when the system tries to sync the contact list.
Got any ideas? Tx, Darrel

I'm sure that's not the sole purpose of error messages. Afterall, they have to number them to give them all their own identity.
I am pretty sure your intellisync folder is corrupt. Do the following:
Make sure your BB is not connected to the computer.
Close the desktop manager.
Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application data
Delete the entire Intellisync folder.
Connect your BB and open the desktop manager.
Sync your device.

In Windows® 98
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync
C:\Windows\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync
The Application Data and AppData folders are hidden by default. To make the hidden files and folders available, complete the follow steps for your operating system:
In Windows XP
In Windows Vista
The Intellisync folder will be regenerated after the synchronization.
