Text Messages

I have over 500 text messages on my cell that I need to transfer to my email address for court purposes.  Is there any way that I can do that without having to forward one message at a time?

Re: Text Messages

Yes, the way you're doing, only one at a time.

Why transfer to your email address? Is that all that you want, or can you take a solution to transfer those SMS to your PC, where you can print them off?

Do a back up of your BlackBerry device using the BlackBerry Desktop Software.

Then, download MagicBerry from Menastep to your PC, and use MagicBerry to extract the SMS messages from the backup file into a database from which you can take those 500 in some format such a CSV or Excel file and email all at once.

Re: Text Messages

I just have to get them in print somewhere to use them as an exhibit.  And they date back for months.  I have to have them today.  So I will try your suggestion with MagicBerry.

Thank you.

Re: Text Messages

Hi, I have the same requirement, to transfer a large number of sms messages to my PC. The guidance you provided is almost 3 years ago. Is this still the best current solution?

thanks v much

It's one solution.

There are other apps also which can do this... SMS Backup, search your App World. Some will work for future SMS messages, some will transfer all those on the device.

Re: Text Messages

Hi, many thanks for your prompt response.  I backed up my Blackberry data to my PC using Blackberry Desktop Software. I downloaded Magicberry. However, it appears that Magicberry is designed to read IPD files and the BB backup seems to be a BBB file. I was not able to see details of any SMS messages in the back up file. I am not sure how to check if indeed the back up was completed successfully. I did find a pop up message a few minutes later that said "error Parsing the file, could not read the DB titles".  I have some 500 existing SMS messages that I would like to have stored on my PC in a readable format

Any further guidance would be much appreciated. Thank You

Re: Text Messages

Thanks, works perfectly. Can read text, number messages sent to/received from, date and time, all in an XL sheet. The one issue is that the free version only allows 5 such SMS messages to be transferred. I have a few hundred so I think my only option is to pay $24.95 for the Home Version, which I trust will allow me to download them all.

That is pretty expensive for a bunch of SMS messages, but I suspect there is no free alternative. Would you agree?
