People I 've noticed that if you go to option and turn off the picture review, the camera will work better, at least is working for me, until RIM find a solution.

I am so disappointed in this phone (old curve had much better signal and call quality) and the camera is driving me insane. Don't use the camera frequently, but I do expect it to bleepin' work correctly! I get the black screen, the buttons take a few pushes to take a pic, the frame that "freezes" is not the actual picture, inside pics are horrible. BB support says to contact the carrier, I just completed a live chat with AT&T and they asked if I've abused, dropped, etc. the phone in the 1 week I've had it...NO...had me pull the battery to check for water damage, and have now told me to do a master reset. Reluctant to do so, since I've read everywhere about owners who've done so, to no avail. Nothing I've tried (including the above) works. I really want to like this phone, because it suits my needs. If I go to the AT&T store this afternoon, it is very possible I will not return with a Blackberry, because the support is non-existent on this issue. Trying to call BB right now, but the line is busy busy busy!

hi there...same issue... : sometimes the camera freezes after the shot. I just get on the the screen the picture I'd have loooved to take
Nothing to do but closing the app and restart. Video works fine.
Removing the "postview" as jtibu suggested seems to be a partial solution. It works for me as well

Been having the same problem others report. Also know that Face Detection does seem to work most of the time....and I am running 18.104.22.1687.
However, jtibu, your comment was something I hadn't tried. Was on the night setup, tried to snap a picture, no luck. Went into options, changed review to off, and boom...was working. Don't know if it is a long term solution, but better than a battery pull.

Same issue here.
Photo camera not working anymore after 2 days, and 4 photos.
Video cam worked fine.
Set photocamera to face detection. Seems to have worked!

I have a Torch, Canadian carrier Bell. 6.0 Bundle 695(22.214.171.124).
I use it contantly, like it doesn't leave my hand. I have not seen any issues with the camera thus far.
Except that the flash is a little too bright, RIM ADD A FLASH EXPOSURE OPTION PLZ
Which leads me to question a few things.
Which carrier are you using, what software bundle and versions do you have and are you using the stock flash card (class 2), larger one, or the internal storage.
I use a 16 gig class 6 lexar microSD card and I have no issues. I also didn't have any with the stock card either or the internal memory.
Sometimes when you open the camera and take a pic, afterward the screen is black for a second while it loads the interface but then it functions normally.
Also when this black screen happens is the screen physically on or is it actually off... press the blackberry key when this happens and see if you get a menu (or hold it to open the task manager).
Because there is an issue at the moment as well that the screen randomly turns off.
