Torch 9810 Problems

Just picked up a 9810 while i love it, have had problems with it freezing constantly especially when the device is locked then trying to unlock. Also, apps that were supported with my old curve are now not supported with the 9810. When will this be corrected? Apps such as the weather network (causes freezing), banking apps, Air Miles apps.

Re: Torch 9810 Problems

I do not have enough knowledge about OS7 so I cannot help you about your freeze issue.

on the other hand, as far as applications are concerned, it is up to every single developer to make sure their app is compatible with OS7, and make it ompatible if need be. As a consumer, the best posture is to contact the developer and ask them directly.

That being said, since the Torch browser is really good, most of the time you can simply use the website to access your profile (especially for banking sites).

Re: Torch 9810 Problems

I currently use Torch 9800 am considering upgrading to a 9810.

That's why I am watching this forum.

My serious peeve is that Blackberry Appworld does not force

user posts to include the specific device for which the

review is being offered.

Also, developers should state whether their apps are compatible

with the current and or new OS's.

There are just too many models of BB to want/have to fool around.

If you agree, please let RIM know via the forums.

Are you kidding me? It's up to every single developer? It is not up to RIM to make sure that applications can be used on their devices?

Re: Torch 9810 Problems

yes, it is up to every single developer. Just like for any software.

Well, how about the RIM applications that do not work for the OS7? Like the Amazon MP3, and Ebay apps?

Don't get me wrong; I really like my 9810. I bought it the second it became available last Sunday, but I think RIM should have gotten a few more ducks in a row, too.

Re: Torch 9810 Problems

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.

You just bought a 9810.

Wouldn't you like to know if an app works on it -

especially if you read the recs.

Who has the time to download and install and delete and reboot,

when all of the 1 star recs mentioned one's device?

It'd be great if developers mentioned on which devices their apps worked.

They'd rather not.

Check the Appworld recommendations.

Fewer than 1 % mention a device.

That's why I suggest that RIM build in

a device section into a recommendation input.

Re: Torch 9810 Problems

@Dbob5678 I agree with you perfectly. Or even better, when the review is made from the AppWorld on the device, autofill those info.

Re: Torch 9810 Problems

@barskin I agree with you. Luckily for us, the teams in charge of a new BlackBerry device are not the same as the teams in charge of applications developed by RIM.

You just have to wait, I guess RIM is choosing the priorities (I think the priority is the social apps first).

Re: Torch 9810 Problems

Yes.

If recommedation is made froma device

>>>>> autofilling the actual device does the job.

RIM can handle this easily.

Even if we have to wait for a further updated

version of Appworld, the recommendations'

fileds can request the device.
