Torch 9810 call drops / Silent automatically / freezing

Device info : 9810 Torch


Carrier: BSNL


Model Info:  9810 smart phone


Firmware: 7.0 Bundle 2395 (v7.0.0.579, Platform




Just bought it 2 days back i.e. on 16 Aug 2012,  and from day one the performance was bad.


Following were the issues faced:

  • Freezing 40 times in a day ( not exaggerating)
  • Torch drops call, both incoming & outgoing  ( I can bet it aint a service provider / sim issue as I have tried it with my airtel sim card also, and faced the same symptoms)
  • Call lost error message
  • Even if outdoor, the signal meter switches to SOS, still im able to make and recieve calls Smiley Sad
  • It wont ring: When i recieve a call, I can see the no. flashing on the sceen however it fails to ring or vibrate even if it's kept on loud. Even the media wont play. I have to pull out battery 2 to 3 times to get it fixed.

Didn't expect this from RIM. my 9700 was way better (never faced a problem).


Not even a single third party software is installed.
