Torch 9810 leather holster magnet in wrong spot

Somebody please help me!  Blackberry makes beautifully strong and functional leather holsters until recently....  My old holster is finally giving in after 5 years and I can't find a replacement.

The new holsters advertised for the Torch - DO NOT WORK!!!!  The magnet is in the wrong place.  Sure, it sleeps the phone on the way in but when the phone is fully inserted into the holster, the phones lights back up.  It passes the magnet on the way down and then thinks it has been pulled out and lights back up.  WTF??  Am I doing something wrong or is this why RIMM is in trouble, I don't know how they could think this works.

I've tried putting the phone in all different ways but it doesn't matter, that magnet is too d**n high on the pouch.

does the holster have a small red stitching patch on it?

No it does not.  But it does have the Blackberry logo on the holster flap, the belt clip and on the backside of the holster.  Is it a fake?  I got it from AT&T....  Also it has stretchy material on the sides.

The tag inside the holster says:  HDW-24208-001 Rev2 A3A LI.  It came in the box with the phone.

Re: Torch 9810 leather holster magnet in wrong spot

I also have a 9810 and the holster I bought is a genuine blackberry. But even though the holster itselfis very sturdy and of good quality, it does not seem to be made for the 9810. In the sense that the phone does not go to sleep when inserted into the holster, nor does it wake upbwhen removed. This kind a annoying because it eats my battery power away . Anyone have a suggestion on what type of holster wll put the phone to sleep when inserted?? Thanks

Re: Torch 9810 leather holster magnet in wrong spot

The official holster for this phone will have a small red spot of stitching on it.  If thats the one you have it will have a tag inside with "RIMM part# HDW-42814-001". If you have something else that might explain it.  AT&T gave me the wrong holster in the box when I got my Torch - dicks.... The RIMM one is a nice holster but not really properly functional.  If you take the phone from your ear to the holster - the natural motion places the phone upside down, facing your hip when it goes in the holster.  But nooooo, this holster is specially formed for the phone to go in top up so you have to rotate the phone in your hand before putting it in.  Very annoying and I think the last straw for me.  I will be buying a different smart phone soon.  I'll miss my crack berry but Darwin is knocking on RIMM's door.
