Torch 9850 OS 126.96.36.199
Desktop Manager 188.8.131.52
I upgraded from a 9550 to a 9850, Since then, I have never been able to get my 9850 to connect to Desktop Manger.
I have tried both via bluetooth and via the USB. When I try to connect via USB, it shows the model, the PIN, and the phone number, but in the lower right hand corner, it just has the "connecting" icon that sits there forever. I let the phone sit for 5 hours one day, and it never connected.
Once this happens, the only way to shut down DM is to use the task manager and kill the process. The program will not close once this happens.
I have tried to connect via bluetooth. The software does not see the phone, even though the phone is connected to my desktop (as confirmed by other applications transfering data between my desktop and the phone).
DM will connect to my 9550 and my playbook, and my 9850 will connect to other dekstops.

I guess I can take this as a statement that no one is willing to help me with this since it has been over a week since the original post and I am the only one to comment on this.

I will try to answer..
1. try to uninstall ALL of your blackberry programs on your PC, desktop manager, device software, all of it..
2. after that using tune up utility or similar programs to clean your registry up, and then reboot the PC
3. reinstall DM 6, dont install DM 7, I found DM 7 is not good with x64 Windows, because I experienced alot of crash with my Win7 Ultimate x64 with DM 7 installed, so I revert back to DM 6
4. Plugin your USB cord on behind of PC USB port
hope this helps bro!

Thank you sir!
Removed the DM now and reinstalling. Let's see how this works. Thanks for the suggestion!

Uninstalled and re-installed latest version from BB site (could not find any other version of Desktop Manager).
Still same effect. DM opens up, shows "You've connected a new device" (initializing device) and hangs up here.

and try to go to device manager, right click on my computer and then choose properties, and then device manager and then go to bottom "Universal serial bus controllers" and on usb root hub, click properties, and then power management, tick the "Allow computer to turn off this device to safe power"

I tried both through a hub and directly connected to USB on motherboard.
I checked the USB root properties and righ tnow, "allow to turn off" is NOT checked. does it need to be checked?
