I went to the site for tips as my trackball had been stuck for 2 days (it wouldn't roll to the right) I didn't have a straw so did the alcohol tip and it worked a treat.

Thanks mamamamia, your link really works and helps me fixing my sticky blackberry trackball. I notice that at the site, there are lots of comments of other users with the same problem like us which have successfully got their blackberry trackball back to normal again. Thanks again..

I used to try the straw berry trick which consists of using a sliced plastic straw. It works for me and lots of my friends, and i will certainly recommend you who has the same problem with sticky unscrollable blackberry trackball to read this trick: Fixing Sticky Unscrollable Blackberry Trackball Without Disassembling

I was having problem while scrolling down and I licked it and magically the track ball started working.
It saved lot of effort to open the phone parts and then reassemble it

I discovered one solution that I have not spotted on any other posts/forums, so hope this works for others out there. My trackball became unresponsive (rolls but does nothing on screen). Occasionally it would work. A shake of the phone (from frustration) would sometimes bring it back to life. But eventually it just stopped working completely.
I bought a new trackball and screwdriver set (total ~£10 from Amazon). Followed the various YouTube instructions to take the BB apart and changed the trackball. Put it back together. Absolutely no difference.
Took it apart again. Plugged in the battery while it was disassembled. Placed trackball on top, just resting in right position. It worked. Put it back together. It didn't work. Figured there must be some physical problem. Eureka moment! Slightly loosened the screws one by one, just enough to take some pressure off the front and back covers. It worked.
So for me, I guess the rollers of the trackball were getting jammed. Maybe it just happened over time, or maybe someone sat on the BB. Hope it gives you another option to try if all other methods have failed so far.
