Turn off Email backup and restore

What needs turned off in the desktop manager to keep from messing up my BES settings? I have a Tour 9630 and every time I try and restore settings or application the darn program crashes my exchange settings which in turn I have to contact corporate support and reset. This also causes me to do a wipe because Desktop manager duplicates all my calendar entries. I've tried removing some check marks in the settings but it's still doing this.

Re: Turn off Email backup and restore

Hi there!

When you are under BES, you should use the desktop software for very very little. Don't configure DTM for any synchronization...let BES handle it. The only thing I use DTM for is to back up my BB and to conduct device OS updates. Sometimes, depending on the type of OS update, my BB indeed must be re-activated on BES.

There should be no reason for DTM to duplicate your calendar entries -- if you are doing a restore, do a selective one and don't restore contacts or calendar...BES will do those OTA. I suggest you work with your BES admins to cleanly remove DTM and get it properly installed as per whatever their guidelines are. Indeed, given the mess you describe, a complete start over (both DTM and the BB) seems to be in order.

Best.
