Turn off email connection

I just got my email back working after corporate deleted my account and recreated it. This all took place when I installed the desktop software and my email quit working. I have no desire to interact with email with the desktop software but I need it for backups and installing applications.

How can I turn off any interaction with email?

Re: Turn off email connection

What do you mean, how do you NOT look at it your email? You mean you want the email account on the BlackBerry, but you don't want to use it?

1, Messages > Menu > Options > General Options > Display Message Count = None; Display New Message Indicator = NO; Keep Messages = 15 days.

Save those settings.

2, Now, back on the main screen, scroll to the messages folder and press Menu > Hide. Then press Menu again > and make sure SHOW ALL is unchecked.

As another way, you might be able to go to your BIS account and on that email account check the box "Do Not Forward Messages to Handheld.

Re: Turn off email connection

If you go into Synchronize (or Intellisync) try unchecking all of the options on this screen. This way when you plug in your device it won't try to sync or anything

Re: Turn off email connection

I want the email to flow to the Blackberry. I don't want the desktop software interacting with the corporate email server. Corporate support thought there was a way to stop the Desktop from connecting to the network. All I want to use it for is backing up the Blackberry and to download applications that do not have seperate download applications. For example I use SplashID which requires I use the desktop to sync it up with my laptop.

My concern is that if I change email settings on the desktop with the current settings it might communicate those changes stopping my email again. I don't know the program well enough since I just moved over from Palm OS.

Re: Turn off email connection

Ah! It sounds like you installed Desktop Manager on your PC with the Redirector option.

If you're not using Redirector, you should uninstall Desktop Manager and then reinstall it using the BlackBerry Internet Service option.

Very simple.

Re: Turn off email connection

Just so I don't mess this up again I downloaded DM 4.7 without media manager. Going through the install I'm presented with 2 options:

(1) Use with new email using Internet Service option

(2) use with corporate email using redirector

At this point I stopped the install to get some feedback from you. Using option (1) will not change or otherwise impact the current Email settings on my Blackberry, Correct?
