Turning GPS Off.

I am new to BlackBerry.

I turned the GPS on to try it out and it wroked fine.  I then reset it to the E911.  I expected that GPS would not work then, but it also turned out that the browser didn't work either.  I turned the GPS back on and the Browser worked fine.

If I leave the GPS on:

Do I drain the battery even if I am not using that feature?

Is there a way to autmatically turn it on when the browser is opened and shut it off when it closes?

Re: Turning GPS Off.

I just turned off GPS on my Tour and was able to use the BlackBerry browser with no problems. You don't need GPS to use the BlackBerry browser.

Re: Turning GPS Off.

I was wrong.  It was a coincidence that we had been in a place where I couldn't get the Browser to work and when I turned on GPS it did.

Pure coincidence.

Re: Turning GPS Off.

Having GPS enabled on your device does very very little to drain the battery.

Glad to see you have this worked out, otherwise.
