UMA on Non Generic Orange Phone

Had my Torch now for about 10 days from Phones4 U, UK however UMA is missing in the options for connection preferances spoke to Orange UK they say because it is not Orange branded phone it wil not have the option on the phone to connect to UMA .But Torch is able to have UMA.if so why is it only on branded phones.

Does anybody know how i can get this option on my Non Generic Torch.Orange say if i can get it to work that will be ok but they wont support it eg any problems.
