(URGENT) BB BOLD REBOOTS THEN DISPLAYS SOMTHING VERY CONCERNING.

My BlackBerry Bold 9930 suddenly rebooted while on the internet, then when the phone started back up, i entered my password and these messages appeared: CATEGORY LIST, APPROVING AUDIO RECORDING, AUDIO RECORDING APPROVED, right after the last message, the LED STARTED FLASHING IN RED. Whnat should i do, and who is causing this?

What should i do, who is causing this. i was typing very fast.

Hello,

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.



But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

The led stops flasing when in safe mode, messages stopped, Yesterday verizon suspended my account and wouldnt tell me why, the bill was paid, so that couldnt be the reason, they were very short on talking to me about it, it was simply no we dont know why and we cant  help you.

Safe Mode is merely a diagnostic tool...not meant for normal operations.

As for VZW, that's quite interesting... but unfortunately no one here in this user-to-user community can do anything about that nor provide any additional information.

My service got turned back on, now the messages say catogory list, and enterprise activation 0061. Thank you for your help, it seems like verizon is hiding somthing. I don't know, as I said they say they can't help me and other customers are waiting.

From what you describe, your BB is activated on some BES somewhere (no, VZW does not provide BES to users AFAIK) and that server is reaching out to try and re-establish it's connection to your BB.

As for what VZW can and cannot do, I would postulate that there is a wide chasm between what they "can" do and what they may be willing to do. I do know that their ability to directly help is infinitely greater than that of the volunteers on this user-to-user community.
