Unable to Update my Curve 9600 to the latest 7.1 OS

Hi Guys,

 

Well i had bought the phone in canada with a contract under FIDO however while leaving to India i had unlocked my BB Curve. The problem is that whenever i try to update the software it says 7.0 is the latest software, I would like to know if there is any way i can install the latest 7.1 OS in my blackberry curve and also while switching on my blackberry i get a screen stating FIDO, is there any way that i can wipe that as well and make the original Blackberry Logo appear instead of the FIDO???

No you cannot change or remove that loading Screen, they are hardcoded !

Yes you can , if you're having problem in updating your device OS just follow those steps :

1.Locate your Carrier and Download the OS you desire from here  BlackBerry Software Download Site

  • (make sure you are downloading for the same model as you have )

2. Now Double Click  on the file that you Downloaded to Install it on your PC

 

3. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software

  • Then using desktop software perform your full backup of your device.

4.Search your C: Drive for any Vendor.xml files and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your PC change your folders option to show hidden files / folders  :

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  • C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

5. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path       will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe

 

      Upgrade will continue then After Installation of New OS restore your backup using BlackBerry desktop

Software.

 

Please note before doing any of those steps remove any BlackBerry OS from the PC on which you perform those steps .

Well thank you for proviing me the steps on how to download the latest OS. however there is oonly 7.0 OS and not the 7.1 OS available.

Hello ,

 

Where OS 7.1 is not available ?

 

Have you downloaded OS7.1 from Carrier download site ? 

 

Have you deleted those Vendor .XML files before proceeding to next step ? 

 

Please explain and give us all details .

Hi Team,

 

First of all i am sorry for the Wrong Model Number, My BB model no is actually Curve 9360 and i have followed the steps exactly as above and i have deleted the vendor.xml files, However still when i check and it says that the device is running on 7.0 Bundle 1680. Do let me know what i am supposed to do Smiley Sad

Hi heatseeker007

 

What happen when you click on loader.exe ?

 

First make sure you downloaded the correct OS pack for your device model , after downloading install that OS on your PC , be sure you deleted those vendor files ., then go to the location as mentioned on step 5 and double Click loader .exe .

 

If you recieve any error while doing then let us know .

Hi,

Well it does not show any OS package at all, Just few applications and its updates.

Hello 

 

What are you doing ? Where you're getting only application ? Have you run desktop software ?

 

The above method don't need Desktop Software, download the OS from here  BlackBerry Software Download Site

and please follow the suggestion as I told on  Previous Post

Hi,

 

Well i did the exact things as step 5 and i have not used the Desktop Software. When i double click on loader.exe i get my devide connected and then 3 Check Boxes with BlackBerry APP world, Wireless Music Sync, Copter i just gave next and finish. But the update is not installed in my phone. Any one more thing my BB is unlocked from FIDO and i have downloaded the OS 7.1 provided from FIDO from the above link.

This problem may happen only under two conditions , first you have not deleted those Vendor .Xml files secondly if you don't have an active BIS on your SIM account . So please check those two things.
