I am no longer able to access my memory card through windows.
In My Computer, if I double click 'Removable Drive F:' I get message "Please insert a disk".
I googled, and found that if I change settings on my card by going (on BB) to options, advanced options, media card - I should be able to fix it, but media card isn't an option in Advanced Options.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
You ran right past the media page!
The options for your media card aren't in the advanced options, they are in options.
On the BB from the home screen locate the options icon. Click on it, scroll to Media card.
Click on it. Then make sure the options are set as follows.
Media card support ON
Encryption mode NONE
Mass storage support ON
Auto enable Mass storage support when connected ON.
Once you have verified or changed settings, try a simple battery pull:
No data will be lost when doing the following: pull the battery while the device is ON.
Replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is fixed.
If you are still not able to access the media card I suggest using or buying a card reader. ($10.00 approx.)
Remove the media card from the Blackberry and insert it in the card reader.
Plug the reader into your PC. The media card should show up as a flash drive.
If you can read the data, immediately copy and save it to a directory on the PC.
If you can't read the data, you probably have a bad card.
In either case left click on the drive letter, select properties, tools, error checking.
If the card is repaired replace it in the BB. If not you will need to purchase another.

I had the same problem when I moved from my curve to my Bold 9700. For me the fix was under Options > Memory > Media Card Support = On, Mass Storage Mode Support = On and Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected = Yes. The last one was the option that was my obstacle.
