Re: Unable to connect Playbook to Windows xp

Hey spyder0234,

After doing some investigating this error is Windows related and having trouble creating a mapped drive.

Have you tried creating a new Admin account and then connect the PlayBook to see if you get the same error?

Re: Unable to connect Playbook to Windows xp

Hi  ViciousFerret ,

Thanks for your help !

The mapping issue sounds good to me.

I tried a new admin account and that resulted in the same problem.

Not sure how to proceed  !

Re: Unable to connect Playbook to Windows xp

Hi  ViciousFerret ,

I tried downloading DM4.6 B13 but the same problem exists.

Had a look in windows control panel , device manager and RIM have a couple of drivers .

If there is a windows mapping issue how would I take a look at it ?

Re: Unable to connect Playbook to Windows xp

Hi  ViciousFerret ,

My windows error reporting log has picked up errors.

looks like network card with address 1674116EB043  is being denied by the DHCP server.

I guess the IP address lease changes every time it requests an IP address.

As its a dynamic host configration protocol why doesnt it find the next IP address available ?

also, do I have to relocate the static RIM network address ?

Cheers

Roger

Re: Unable to connect Playbook to Windows xp

Hi  ViciousFerret ,

The Network adaptor for the RIM device is

DHCP Server  169.254.9.229

IP address  169.254.9.230

The windows network diagnostics passed the pinging tests on it.

Re: Unable to connect Playbook to Windows xp

I have all the latest playbook software and all the correct options set on the device.

I can connect to my wireless router, and that's as good as it gets.

With xp, I have the latest Blackberry Desktop Manager, it works fine with my BlackBerry 9900 smartphone. When I connect the Playbook, there is no screen change on the Playbook, there is no recognition buy the Blackberry Desktop Manager, xp finds new hardware and lauches the wizard, this goes no where as I don't have a cd to install a driver.

With Mac, it sees the Playbook, it tries to connect to the Playbook, but can't. The PlayBook gets the green screen for connecting, nothing happens if this screen is dismissed or left open.

Also with the MAC using the Finder Go to connect wirelessly it fails at the mount drive stage.

Lots of frustration
