I start up the installation, shortly after it comes up with a box and closes down after I click okay this is what it says:

Quiet mode, no user interaction
Unattended mode - progress bar only
Sets user interface level

Always restart the computer after installation
i - Status messages
w - Nonfatal warnings
e - All error messages
a - Start up of actions
r - Action-specific records

x - Extra debugging information

p - only if file is missing

If there is any BlackBerry files left on your computer from the other install and uninstalls they must first be removed before attempting to install again.
Use Windows Search to find these files then delete them.

I pasted it in case there was anything different, seems not though. I typed what you told me to into command prompt, a box similar or the same as this one came up when I pressed enter. The installer still doesn't work
(This old pc is running on vista btw if this helps)

You have the right Installer but seems not to be working, do this:
Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, Windows Installer, Click Start upper left corner.
If starts without error try install again, if error run this utility: http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/
In box "What are you trying to do?" click "Install or upgrade software or hardware"
Scroll down to "Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled" click Run Now
