Re: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account

Visatro, I think you're right.

As earlier posts state, simply doing a security wipe doesn't work for some people. Mine is on BES and the only solution for me was to go through Blackberry support to fix it. Unfortunately, it's gone back to the same problem and I'll have to call again.

Re: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account

Firas. As far as I understand the only option is the Security Wipe. BackUp your 9900 first.  The Security Wipe is not too much hassle. It worked for me with one minor issue with a 3rd party app. but that was resolved with an update to App World that became available after I had done the Security Wipe. Most of your settings, email account etc will restore themselves after the Wipe when you connect to the Desktop Software.

BlackBerry Internet Service vs BlackBerry Enterprise Server

Basically, consumer blackberries you got from say AT&T and corporate ones where your office has its own blackberry server.

Re: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account

BES is a corporate system with company based Enterprise Sever.  BIS is standalone.

You need BIS if you...

  • need your emails in a secure and timely fashion
  • have up to 9 personal POP or IMAP email addresses
  • use a Microsoft Exchange Server with Outlook Web Access.

You need BES if you...

  • Need everything that BIS does, plus
  • have a company email address using either Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino or Novell GroupWare
  • need to wirelessly synchronise your company calendar, address-book, and to-do list with your Blackberry device
  • already have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server within your company (or are planning on buying one).

There is no difference in the handheld devices apart from how they're set up on the network.

Re: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account

A BlackBerry device on a persona BIS account, and a BlackBerry device on a corporate BES account can both use the Security Wipe feature in the same way. No difference there.

Re: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account

Okay I'm about to do the security whipe only two more questions:

1. When I go to security wipe I get three blocks I can choose, do I have to choose them all?

2. How do I get my backup back on my BB?

Re: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account

Yes agree with that but in order to restore a BES BB you need to do am enterprise activation which in my case takes three days for our. IT team to sort out and then I lose all ,y personal settings eg autocorrect and all my apps then need restoring from app world

Re: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account

1. Click the first (Emails, Contacts etc) and the second (user installed applications)

2. With the BlackBerry Desktop Software connected, Device > Restore.

Re: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account

I only selected the first block from memory.  You should not need to restore your back up totally. After you have done the Security Wipe connect your phone to the BB Software on your PC again.  Most of what you need should install automatically.  You should only need to resort to the back up if it all goes wrong.
