Unable to set up BBM

I am unable to set up BlacBerry Messesnger. Whenever I try to do it, it displays a message thus: "Cannot access bbm services. Check that your device date and time is correctly set, and try again."

I have checked and confirmed that both the time and the date settings are correct including the time zone, yet it refuses to set up.

Please, I need your urgent support to solve this irritating problem.

When first I encountered that problem saying bbm services cannot be accessed, I deleted the bbm app from my device and re-downloaded the latest version from Appworld. Yet it continues to show me that same message, failing to set up the bbm.

I'm using BB Torch 9800
OS version: v6.0.0.747

Hi..

 

I suggest the following steps:

1) Register HRT

 

    • Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now

 

2) Resend Service Books

 

    • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

3) Batt Pull Reboot

 

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Thank you sameer_it17 for the prompt response. I really appreciate it. I have just tried all the proceduers you listed above except that when attempting to register HRT, I didn't find BBKey on the list there. I however went ahead and registered but all to no avail.

Also based on a suggestion by someone yesterday, I called my carrier's Customer Care Centre to enquire whether they had blocked the app. They said it isn't possible for them to do that. They nonetheless reset my bb SIM settings to see whether it would help. Sadly the problem persists. Prior to that I had the phone flashed all to no avail. And surprisingly, if someone sends me a bbm message it shows 'D' meaning 'delivered' on his phone.

I honestly don't know what to do.

Did you get a registration message back after you did the Registration?

Yes I did. The message only conrifmed my success in setting up my email address which is normal as always.

Try this.

Connect the device to Desktop Manager and go to "Delete Data". Choose to selectively delete individual databases. When the list comes up delete the database for BlackBerry Messenger. The device may reboot when it's done. Then try to log in again.
