Uncaught exception java.lang.null.pointerexception SMS ICON GONE

Hey Guys,

I recently had troubles with my blackberry Curve 8900 after i put a new post paid sim card in.

My error read: 'uncaught exception java.lang.null.pointerexception'

** looked on the net and there wasn't enough information in regards to fixing it & most of the help did not work.**

I have come across a solution if these possibilities do not work.

1. Turn phone power off

Take out battery and sim card and also memory card if you have one.

Wait for 1minute and then put them back in and see if that fixed the problem. IF NOT

2. In the home screen, press ALT and pree your tracking ball.

in you email messages, should come up with http://networker.optus.net.au and follow the prompts

and then if you SMS ICON still has not turned up, TRY

3. In your menu, hold alt and click your first available icon and select to 'HIDE'.

then go to messages and hit the menu key and it should come up with a 'SHOW ALL'

4. Your Desktop manager: Check for updates, update you desktop manager and then see if your SMS ICON has appeared back. NOW IF ALL ELSE FAILS

5. Open your desktop manager

connect your blackberry to your comp/lap

you want to 'advanced restore'

highlight all files on the right side (blackberry) and move across to the left (computer)

Once restored, unplug your blackberry but make sure you can see you back up file before you unplug your phone.

Security options

General Settings (Scroll to services **no services**

Once your blckberry has finished verifying it your phone will take about 5minutes to turn back on.

If it doesnt, start it up.

It will take you back to the inital start up when entering time and typing @ etc

Your SMS ICON WILL be there and connect you blackberry to you desktop manager

restore, will take 2 minutes and your phone is like new.

** Hope you haven't wasted hours with your phone provider**
