I've noticed that credit is being taken off my account yet I don't really know why.
I thought it was the BBM, but I was under the impression messages sent via BBM, all over the world, were free....
Myself and my friend abroad, have a BB 8520. I'm in the UK, my friend in The Netherlands.
I'm checking my usage history, I'm on Orange PAYG and all I see five pages of pretty much the same thing. There's a ton of 'em - this is just copied and is only a sample:
date & time event type dialled number/description duration/vol(Kb) cost (£)

I know it's only pennies, but these are adding up in to several pounds.
My texts are showing up as free, which they should be. I have 300/600 free texts.
And I never make a phone call!
I either text or use the BBM.
This is only something I've noticed in the past couple of days but according to my history on my Orange account, it's been like this for a few weeks.
I contacted customer services yesterday and I was informed I do have the data plan, £5 a month goes off my credit, even though I really do not recall having a message about it for a while now.
So, yeah, why am I being charged, is it not free or...?
I'm slightly confused tbh!
*Edit: And in the process of typing the message another 2p has gone... :-S

Is this an actual Blackberry data plan? Do you have email setup on your device? And BBM doesnt usually cost people money as it is typically billed against data, but it isnt exactly 'free'
Your device automatically "polls" email roughly every 15 minutes. also IM (such as BBM) require data transfer.
I would ask your carrier the details of your 'data plan' mainly because your billed details are indicating Pay Per Use data charges.
GPRS means General Packet Radio Service:
A GSM initiative to deliver high speed packet data services to mobile terminals. GPRS allows many users to share the same channel and allows users to stay virtually 'on line' all of the time; radio resources are used only when data is actually being transmitted or received.
In a nutshell GPRS prepaid session means your being billed data at a ppu rate.
Please call your carrier for details.

Do you have any other apps that may be accessing TCP data? Sometimes , depending on the carrier, carrier data (not rim data) is billed separately.

Yep, the woman said I do have the data plan.
My Blackberry did go slightly crazy a couple of weeks back, some update via my laptop, and I lost a lot of things.
So I thought maybe the plan had been deactivated. But customer services said I do have it and the money for it was taken on Aug 24th.
No, to the emails being sent to my BB, I did have that when I first have my BB but I soon stopped that.
As for the apps, I did remove a couple yesterday, thinking it could be a new one I installed.
The only apps I use all the time are Twitter and Facebook. The rest are just there, and I don't access them much - London Underground map, MySpace, WeatherEye, TrainTimes.
The woman said I had "set up something" accidently.. Something that charges when I use the internet. What that "something" is, I have no idea!
It's odd because I can check my credit, not even use my phone for a while AT ALL, go back and notice I've lost some money.
Since the original message, they said they are looking into it.
It could take 24/48 hours for some sort of resolution.
Thank you for the replies.
